About Me
Hi, my name is Sheila Ohime and I am a Certified Personal Trainer, a Nutritionist, a Holistic Health and Wellness Coach, and a nutrition and health researcher and educator. For 17 years now I have had the pleasure of working in the health and fitness industry. I have helped people lose weight, gain muscle, get fit, recover from injuries and surgeries, learn to grocery shop, meal plan and prep and even cook. You name it, if it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, I've done it.
I have used nutrition, exercise and lifestyle choices to overcome my own food, alcohol and smoking addictions, which has helped me lose weight and keep it off all these years. I have also overcome a lifetime of depression and anxiety do to the choices I make every day.
It wasn't until I was challenged with my own health did my beliefs around exercise and nutrition start to shift. In 2012 I was very fortunate to learn that I had 2 brain aneurysms. They were found by complete accident (thought I just needed my tonsils out), but they were discovered by a routine CT Scan. This saved my life, but changed it all the same. I went from being a healthy 42 year old athlete living the life of my dreams and doing what I loved, to feeling like my body betrayed me. I woke up from my second brain surgery and felt like I was in a Hypervigilant State that I could not get out of. I had no idea what was going on at the time, but my brain was caught in a maladapted stress response.
In this state, also called Fight or Flight, my body could not heal. I went down a worm hole with the Medical System and was offered way too many drugs and given way too many diagnoses. When I realized this wasn't the path I wanted to go down, I than shifted to Natural Health which came a whole new set of diagnoses and supplements. After 7 years of this, I gave up. I filed bankruptcy on my business, sold my house and moved to Texas. It was there one day listening to a podcast about chronic fatigue that I heard someone talk about the brain and this stress response. I went all in and started researching and reading everything I could about this subject. In 2019, I went to Austin Texas and participated in a group training on Rewiring the brain. Within 2 weeks from this event, I was climbing a cliff. I couldn't believe the change in my body in such a short amount of time.
As time went on, I soon realized that I was still holding onto the Trauma I went through and some old negative patterns. I also went through menopause and the old methods of exercise more and eat less weren't cutting it anymore. I did some deeper brain rewiring and started researching hormones. I came across people like Dr. Ray Peat, Kate Deering, Kitty Bloomfield, Josh Rubin, Jay Feldman, and many others. They all base their work on energy balance, or energy supply vs. energy demand. If your cells have the energy they need to function optimally, then we cannot just survive, but thrive! By using a Pro-metabolic approach, I have healed my body and I now define health by a lack of sickness, sleeping great, good digestion, healthy skin and hair, having a good libido, being hungry, happy and having a warm body.
So, this is what I do now. I am a Holistic Health and Wellness Coach and I help you build a foundation to thrive. I meet people where they are. Someone might be an athlete who just needs a little nutritional help. Another person might be coming off a major health crisis or has never exercised or ate a vegetable in their life. Through proper education and coaching, I will help you achieve the life you want.
We start out with goal setting, because you have to know where you want to go and from there I map out a plan for you. From what to eat, how to eat, when to eat, or even who am I when it comes to food, I got you covered. You will get a fabulous education around hydration, nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, hormones, detoxification, etc.
